img-ATL

The National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS) and its partners are hosting a webinar series featuring community case studies about what happens after urban heat island mapping campaigns are conducted. Each webinar will be themed to follow the U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit’s Steps to Resilience framework and how cities are working to address extreme heat risk.

The first webinar of the series, “Exploring the Heat Hazard,” will take place on July 29th at 2pm EDT and will highlight how heat is experienced differently across the United States. Key discussions will highlight a variety of methods and approaches for measuring heat, including satellites, mobile transects, stationary observations, and wearable sensors. Speakers for this event are Jen Runkle (NC State University), Cameron Lee (Kent State University), and Brian Garcia (Warning Coordination Meteorologist, NOAA/NWS). Noura Randle (NOAA/CPO) will moderate the webinar.
