CPO’s Roger Pulwarty is lead author on a new paper–“Adaptation Challenges in Complex Rivers: The Guadiana and the Colorado Basins,”–in Water Resources Management.
The Guadiana River crosses from Spain to Portugal, and is home to one of the largest reservoirs in Europe, while the Colorado encompasses parts of seven U.S. States and northwestern Mexico.
This paper:
- Assesses climatic risks in two major transboundary watersheds with similar climatic environments;
- Outlines the management challenges in the context of a changing climate and increasing demands; and
- Opportunities for improving the use of research-based information in integrated water resources management.
Water Resources Management is the lead journal of the European Water Resources Association.
