USGCRP Social Science Coordinating Committee Debuts Seminar Series on Food, Culture, and Climate

The Social Sciences Coordinating Committee (SSCC) of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) has launched a public webinar series on the intersections between food, culture, and climate. Ariela Zycherman, CPO Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program manager, is on the planning committee for this effort and is the Co-Chair for the USGCRP-SSCC. The webinar series will bring together researchers on food and culture, climate, and food, and climate and culture to consider the ways in which these three pieces fit together. The series aims to highlight a range of social science perspectives on the U.S. food system and climate change that demonstrate the importance of societal conditions for its sustainability. 

The following are the titles, dates, and times of the three webinars:

  • September 14th @ 1:00 – 2:30 pm ET: Socio-Cultural approaches to Climate, Food, and Agricultural Systems
  • September 28 @ 12:30 – 2:00 pm ET: Sustainable and Just Fisheries – Rethinking Climate Resilient Food Systems
  • October 12 @ 1:00 – 2:30 pm ET: Putting Culture into Practice – The role of Social Science in Building Resilient and Adaptive Food Systems
