On November 25, CPO’s National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) and California Nevada Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) team will host a webinar about current conditions and an outlook for the rest of the fall into winter. Fall in California and Nevada can bring dry weather, but this year has been especially dry with many areas receiving hardly any or no precipitation the last couple months. The webinar will answer questions like, is this dryness a trend that will continue into winter, or just typical fall weather? When will the wildfire risk die down? Will the Pacific Blob (marine heatwave) influence the weather? It will also provide tools you can use to prepare for, monitor, and respond to climate conditions this winter. Speakers include Dr. Daniel McEvoy from the Western Regional Climate Center and Dr. Julie Kalansky from CPO’s California-Nevada Climate Applications Program (CNAP, a RISA team).

The upcoming California-Nevada Drought Early Warning System (CA-NV DEWS) Drought & Climate Outlook Webinar is part of a series of regular drought and climate outlook webinars designed to provide stakeholders and other interested parties in the region with timely information on current drought status and impacts, as well as a preview of current and developing climatic events (i.e. El Niño and La Niña).
