The Secretary of Commerce has awarded a Group Silver Medal for Personal and Professional Excellence to the North American Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) team, which includes CPO’s Annarita Mariotti.
In an email announcing the awards, NOAA Director Dr. Kathryn Sullivan said: “This medal is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and passion for public service. I am so proud of the many contributions you and the other award recipients have made across the breadth of the NOAA mission, especially using your expertise and creativity to develop and implement the North American Multi-Model Ensemble.” The NMME team, which includes Annarita Mariotti, Gabriel Vecchi, Rich Gudgel, William Stern, Jin Huang (NWS), Huug vanDendool (NWS), Qin Zhang (NWS), and Suranjana Saha (NWS), was nominated by OAR for implementing the NMME to put timely and useful seasonal forecast information into the hands of decision-makers.

CPO would also like to commend Annarita Mariotti’s MAPP affiliates Dan Barrie, Heather Archambault, Will Chong, and Alison Stevens. They are affiliates and not officially recognized through the NOAA awards but are integral to MAPP’s NMME work.
