On April 2, 2020, NOAA Research officially announced the reorganization of NOAA labs and programs, including the elevation of the CPO division formerly known as Ocean Observing and Monitoring (OOMD) to the new Global Ocean Monitoring and Observing (GOMO) Program. NOAA’s GOMO Program is the U.S. Federal source and international leader for sustained, in situ global ocean observations and information in support of research, monitoring, and prediction. GOMO includes the Arctic Research Program, sponsors more than half of the world’s ocean observing capability, and is uniquely positioned to provide global leadership for Arctic issues and in the areas of ocean observing, monitoring, and prediction.
CPO congratulates GOMO and looks forward to future collaborations.
