NOAA RISA hires Joe Dwyer, Climate Adaptation Program Specialist, to facilitate climate impacts and adaptation research and planning and preparedness activities in the U.S. Virgin Islands

Joe Dwyer was recently hired as the new Climate Adaptation Program Specialist in support of the NOAA Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessment (NOAA) in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This position is co-hosted by the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Division.

The NOAA RISA’s Program Specialist will facilitate the connection between climate impacts and adaptation research and the planning and preparedness activities of significance to the U.S. Virgin Islands. The role of this position will support connections between climate adaptation research and scientific assessments with territorial decision making (planning, policy development) to advance climate adaptation and resilience building. Topics of focus include climate, water management and coastal management issues intersecting across the territory to support the inclusion of policy makers and local adaptation efforts.

Joe’s position will help establish critical interagency and community-based partnerships necessary to further climate adaptation planning and preparedness in the U.S. Virgin Islands and across the U.S. Caribbean as relevant.
