CMIP6 Task Force (2019-2022)

The OAR Climate Program Office’s Modeling, Analysis, Predictions and Projections (MAPP) Program has organized the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) Task Force to coordinate the activities of researchers supported through the MAPP-Fiscal Year 2019 grant competition “21st Century Integrated U.S. Climate Predictions and Projections”. The goal of this Task Force is to maximize outcomes from the collective set of funded projects and create a community of practice in this research area.

The core membership of the Task Force is comprised of MAPP-funded principal investigators (PIs) from universities and NOAA and other Federal centers and laboratories. Members of the Task Force also include invited scientists from across the community with interest and expertise in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project.

Through monthly teleconferences, the Task Force provides a formal mechanism for PIs to communicate, coordinate, and collaborate. Via the Task Force, PIs share new datasets, methodologies, and results. Other collaborative activities will be designed as the Task Force progresses.

The CMIP6 Task Force is a two-year effort starting September 2019.
